“One day I brought my 5 year old grandson into the centre and was amazed by how much he already knew about computers. It made me feel a little bit embarrassed because I didn’t even know how to log on for example. Everything nowadays is ‘www dot’ this and that.
My incentive to join was to learn how to browse the web and send and receive emails. In doing so I have learnt all this and more. Now when meeting people I can give them my email address as well as my phone number.
I would like to show that for people of my age and older not to let age be a barrier because you can surprise yourself by how many new things you can learn which are very useful. Computers also help elderly people who are unable to go out to shop online and send emails to loved ones. I now see Priory Court Community Centre as my second home and every opportunity I get I want to come over and practise. It’s a good atmosphere, everyone is friendly and the tutors make it fun to learn.”
