Find out how the ‘Opt-in Scheme’ works
If you do decide to join the scheme, you will be told when the contractors will be working on your estate or in your area; this could be any time in the next five years. Nearer the time, you will be visited by a Resident Liaison Officer who will go through all the details with you and give you a written quotation for everything that you want done. You will be responsible for paying the contractors for the works.
Initially, they would just require a deposit to cover the costs of surveys and designs before doing the installation work. If you then decide to have a new kitchen or bathroom installed, you will need to pay the full cost to the contractor when you sign the contract at the start. The cost will be based on the discounted rates available to Merton Priory Homes. Each quotation will be individual, but the following prices may give you an idea of the likely costs. Please note that these prices do not include VAT which would be charged at the prevailing rate, currently 20%.
Initial survey and design work
Including: any necessary structural checks as well as surveys to check for any asbestos, electrical tests etc.

Supply and installation of new kitchen
Including: new sink and kitchen units, electrical wiring and sockets, vinyl flooring, wall tiling and redecoration of walls and ceilings.
Not including: any appliances such as a cooker or refrigerator. If you have existing appliances that you wish to keep, the contractor will re-fix these for you in the new kitchen.
