In March 2007, Mole Valley tenants overwhelmingly voted to transfer their homes to Mole Valley Housing Association (MVHA), a new regional group partner of Circle. 86% of tenants voted in favour of transfer - another fantastic ballot result for the organisation.
This result was the culmination of months of research and preparation work by Circle and Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) which began when Circle was selected out of twenty two interested parties as the preferred group partner by MVDC.
David Searle, the Council Director leading the selection process for a preferred partner, said, “Circle really took our key requirements for transfer into consideration – that we wanted to establish a locally based RP fit to deliver a major programme of improvements to homes and services and to provide more affordable housing in the area.”
Alan Townshend, Assistant Director, Business Growth, said, “Our impressive track record in providing new affordable housing coupled with the fact that we offered Mole Valley local independence and opportunities to benefit from the Group’s financial strength made us a natural choice for MVDC.”
“Importantly, we could offer MVDC a level of security that many of our competitors couldn’t because of the way the Group is structured. All of the assets of the Group are owned by the RP partners and not Circle.”
“Our ethos is to encourage and support independent housing associations, characterised by extensive resident involvement, working within a group framework that provides business support.”
David concluded, “Circle’s dedicated Business Growth team, and professional support services, have helped ensure a smooth transfer process. As a result we have established exactly the kind of housing association we wanted within a reputable housing group.”
