Ranwell Adventure Playground and community centre – owned and managed by Old Ford Housing Association (OFHA) - was completed in February 2011.
The adventure playground – which is supervised by qualified OFHA play-workers – is already a massive hit with 6-15 year olds living in the Roman Road area, many of whom do not have a garden or private outdoor space at home. Local children have been involved in its design and construction which boasts wooden facilities such as balancing equipment, sand pits, water play, hammocks, boulders, bespoke swings and sensory areas.
As well as providing fantastic outdoor facilities, the site also boasts a state-of-the-art community centre with a large hall for indoor play, kitchen, toilets and a wet room.
June Morton, Managing Director of Old Ford Housing Association said: “This is one of the best adventure playgrounds I’ve ever seen. To have this facility right in the middle of our housing estate is just brilliant. It’s a place where young people can really enjoy the outdoors, experiment with equipment and let off steam. It’s no surprise that our young residents love it so much.”
