Mayor of Luton and MP open South Anglia office

5 January 2009 - Kelvin Hopkins, MP Luton North attended the opening of the new Luton office last week with Mayor of Luton Cllr Lakhbir Singh. Kelvin was briefed on South Anglia's strategy for community development and resident involved in Luton.

The new offices will give residents access to a range of housing services. Teams based there will include neighbourhood management, asset management for tenancy and estate management and day to day repairs. In addition, the office employs a community development worker who will build up the relationship with residents and engage them in the development of new services and local community projects.

A new anti-social behaviour co-ordinator will also be based at the office, working closely with the local council, residents, community groups and police to help ensure that all residents can enjoy living in a safe and secure neighbourhood.

Chris Ellison, managing director of South Anglia Housing, said: “It’s key for South Anglia Housing to be in the heart of the community and bring the housing service closer to residents.

"We are committed to creating life chances by offering much more than bricks and mortar, and are looking forward to working closely with residents, the council and partner organisations to offer a great local service and further develop a vibrant and safe community. It was great to welcome Kelvin Hopkins and Cllr Singh to the offices and to tell them more about how we plan to support the local area."
