Circle Anglia branches out to the West Midlands

In October, Circle Anglia was delighted to welcome Mercian Housing Association to the group. Mercian will be Circle Anglia’s lead partner in the West Midlands. The partnership will bring 3,400 rented and shared ownership properties to Circle Anglia, meaning the group will collectively own and manage over 51,500 properties.

Markrogers Lauriceponting300The partnership will enable Mercian to invest even more in creating sustainable communities and help realise its potential in meeting the housing and regeneration needs of the region.

Mercian is a well respected and innovative housing provider and is leading the way in the area of affordable finance through its subsidiary, ART Homes Ltd. A not for profit organisation, ART Homes works in partnership with local authorities and strategic housing organisations to assist them in meeting local housing strategies by providing access to finance for vulnerable homeowners, helping them to achieve Decent Homes standards.

Loans are targeted at those who are assessed as eligible for support by local authorities and who are unable to obtain affordable finance from high street lenders.

Since making its first loan in 2003, ART Homes have provided over £20M in affordable loans, helping more than 1,350 households improve their living conditions. Circle Anglia hopes to be able to learn from this and offer more families this opportunity going forward.
