Parish Rooms

Parish Rooms Opened in 1996, the Parish Rooms are a Supported Housing scheme for single, homeless people from the district of Bridgnorth. There are 12 units within the scheme for people between the ages of 16 and 59. Residents are able to live in the housing for up to 2 years while they work with their allocated support worker to secure independent accommodation and improve their life skills, enabling them to cope with an independent tenancy in the future. Rent is chargeable on the rooms; however Shropshire Supporting People covers the support costs for each resident. The aim of the service is to offer residents the opportunity to live independently but within a supportive environment offering advice and assistance on a range of subjects including:

Budget help
Help with training and employment
Drug and alcohol misuse

There is also the added reassurance of a 24 hour on site staff member to assist in times of emergency.

The aim of this service is to help service users maintain their new tenancy when they have moved on from the Parish Rooms. The service user and support worker will create a support plan and agree the level of service required to meet their objectives. This plan is reviewed every three months. We can advise and assist on a range of subjects including:

• Obtaining benefits
• Education, training and employment
• Mediation and advocacy work
• Anti-social behaviour issues
• Mental health
• Alcohol and drug misuse

We can support service users for any length of time up to two years.
Support fees are required for this service. However, provided the service user is in receipt of part or full housing benefit, there is no charge to the service user as payments are met by supporting people.
