This page gives you some useful information and tips on getting ready for winter, keeping warm and how Mercian plan around the winter period.

Mercians Winter Continegency Plan

One thing we can never control at Mercian is the weather, but we can plan and prepare to try and ensure that any heavy winter conditions do not create too much disruption.

Mercian works closely with our contractors P H Jones and Axis to make contingency plans just in case you experience problems with your heating or plumbing.

In order to help things run smoothly this year:

We have ensured that our regular gas servicing that was planned for November - January has been done early so to free up engineers required for any urgent repairs.
Our contractors have off road vehicles available to help them get to our residents quickly and safely in any snow.
Our contractors have assured us that if emergencies arise with Mercian homes, they will be able to allocate staff from other regular work to help speed things up.
Temporary heaters will be available if needed. Some of these will be stored at our sheltered housing schemes to ensure that they are instantly available if needed.
Our gas contractor has also extended their working hours up to 8pm.
