What is mystery shopping?
Mystery shopping is used by many organisations to improve their services, especially the way that customers are dealt with. Most organisations use market research companies acting as customers to do the shopping for them.
Our shoppers will be our own customers, like you. All we ask is for you to make contact with us and check the quality of the service you get, then tell us what you think.
What does a mystery shopper do?
A mystery shopper usually has to pretend to be a customer – but you don’t need to act or pretend, you are already one of our customers! Our mystery shoppers will carry out a series of activities and report back to us so that we can learn from your experiences. For example, you may be asked to phone one of our offices and ask a particular question. You would then note down a number of things like, how long it took for the phone to be answered, did they give their name, how polite and helpful were they and how happyyou were with the service you got. All shoppers will be given training.
What happens to the shopping results?
A team of people at MPH who deal with quality and performance will look at the results and take any ideas from the shoppers as to how to improve the way things are done. So, your help as a mystery shopper could really help to make a difference for everyone else.
Your findings will be kept confidential. No one will be told that you are a mystery shopper and no one will know who said what.
What skills or qualifications do I need?
We can work with all residents who are keen to help. We can find ways for you to shop that you feel comfortable with. So, even if you don’t have access to a phone or the internet or do not fancy travelling to an office; you can still be part of our team.
How much will I earn?
As a mystery shopper you may have to make some phone calls, visit some of our offices, send some emails or letters. You can choose which ones you feel most comfortable with. To cover your expenses and to say thank you for your time and commitment we will give you a £10 of shopping voucher, for every shop you do. These will be paid once you have carried out all the activities we set. This includes attending the training, returning all the record sheets and attending the feedback session.
