The "Life in St Helier" Film Project was developed as a partnership between Merton Council's Neighbourhood Renewal and Arts Development teams. The aim of the film was to see how people get along in the St Helier ward; is there a sense of community and what does that mean for local residents?
The film includes interviews with St Helier residents from school children to Nelly who was 100 this summer! Filming also involved local police and wardens, Merton College, the Mosque, local churches, businesses and voluntary organisations.
Over 100 people attended the initial screening at Wimbledon Odeon in July.
The St Helier Joint Action Group is serviced by the Safer Neighbourhood Team and is made up of representatives from organisations serving and supporting St Helier, including residents' representatives. The Joint Action Group will be responsible for helping to steer the St Helier Neighbourhood Plan.
