Street Properties & Small Blocks Annual Budget

Merton Priory Homes established a grant programme with a dedicated annual budget of £50,000 to directly benefit residents of street properties and small blocks each year from 2011. This was one of the transfer promises. The fund runs from April - March annually.

What is the fund for?
The fund is to help improve the quality of life for MPH residents who live in street properties or small blocks by supporting improvements to:

  • homes or gardens
  • internal or external communual areas
  • enhance home security
  • to support local activities to strengthen resident communities

Who can apply?
Any tenant or leaseholder living in a street or small block ( small block list (21 KB)). Your proposal must benefit a MPH resident, or residents at the address where the applicant lives.

What can you apply for?
The fund is in addition to responsive repairs, maintenance works and the five year plan of decent homes improvement to the Merton Standard which are already fully budgeted for. It can be used to tie in with these works however, to add something extra that would not otherwise be possible.

The following will not be funded:

  • Repairs and improvements to boundary walls, fencing, railings, balconies, paving, paths and hedging
  • New or improved external lighting
  • Decent homes programme
  • Front and rear security lighting

The applications supported by the 2011/12 fund included new refuse/recycling storage and resurfacing for small blocks, gardening, new gates and fencing, washing lines and cycle storage.
