Prior to the day, we identified a number of actions which we would deliver before Saturday, like liaising with the DVLA to remove abandoned vehicles and painting bollards. Colleagues from the Estates Services Team took care of more general clearing and tidying up the area with jet washing the bins. We have also cleared shrubs, painted entrances and for the very first time, the Estate Services Team used their new machine to deep clean hard surfaces.
On Saturday, we removed bulk rubbish and jet washed the play equipment at the Beeches. Residents joined us to help with litter picking, which gave us the opportunity to talk to them in person and ask for their ideas on future improvements to their neighbourhood. Residents have raised a number of issues and questions, which we will be acting upon and using when planning for future estate improvements.
Scooby Doo and our Junior Wardens scheme proved to be a magnet for children who enjoyed an active day out helping cleaning the area around their homes and learning about the importance of taking care of the environment they live in.
Estate Action Days are part of our promise we have made to residents and we will be delivering more of them around other neighbourhoods. In December, we are taking on Cherry Trees, so watch our events calendar for what we are planning for you!
