Handyperson service

How many times have you thought you could do with an extra person or another pair of hands to do the odd job around the house?

The Handyperson Service is provided by Mole Valley Housing Association for use of its residents – tenants and leaseholders.

It is often difficult and expensive to call someone out for the smaller jobs like fitting a plug, hanging a curtain rail, fixing a tap or small carpentry jobs.

MVHA’s Handyperson Service is here to help you carry out small routine jobs that you may be unable to do yourself.

What sort of work can be undertaken?

  • Doors/window, repairs and adjustment (where these are the tenant’s responsibility)
  • Minor carpentry work;
  • Minor plumbing repairs;
  • Fitting locks and security chains;
  • Gates/fencing/walls – repairs and renewals (where these are the tenant’s responsibility)
  • Draught proofing;
  • Minor electrical work – generally restricted to wiring plugs, changing bulbs and similar tasks.
  • Minor decorations;
  • Shelving;
  • Flat Pack – assembly.

Are there any jobs that the Handyperson Service can’t do?

We can not undertake large-scale work that is above first floor level, gas work, electrical (apart from plugs and fuses), or roofing work. When considering a job the handyperson also has to consider the Health & Safety issues involved. The Handyperson will not carry out any works which our repairs service would usually do for you, as part of our responsibility under your tenancy agreement.
