The Decent Homes Standard is a Government initiative that requires all social housing to meet a minimum quality standard for social housing set by the Government.
To meet the Decent Homes Standard, every property must;
• Be in a reasonable state of repair
• Have efficient heating and effective insulation
• Meet legal minimum standards
• Have reasonably modern facilities and services.
A property would fail the standard if it has three or more of the following;
• A kitchen more than 20 years old
• A kitchen with inadequate space and layout
• A bathroom more than 30 years old
• Inappropriately located WC or bathroom
• Poor insulation against external noise
• Inadequate size and layout of common areas in blocks of flats
MVHA are going above and beyond!
When residents voted to transfer their homes to Mole Valley Housing Association, we promised that in addition to the Governments Decent Homes standards we would deliver a range of additional works and improvements to your homes. We’ve called this commitment the Mole Valley Standard.
