How your rent is set

Mole Valley Housing Association calculates rents for all tenancies. Your rent is reviewed by us annually and we set new rents in accordance with the Housing Corporation’s rent setting formula.

This formula is based on the value of your home, the number of bedrooms your home has and the average household incomes for the area.

Water rates are also paid with the rent as we collect them on behalf of the Water Authorities. Tenants in sheltered housing pay a Utilities Charge which covers the gas and sometimes the electricity. Tenants of properties connected to the Community Alarm will pay a Support Charge.

Once we have set the new annual rent levels, we will give you 28 days notice of the new rent to be paid from 1st April each year.

We are constantly reviewing the services we provide to residents, and in doing so this may result in additional charges being incurred by residents. However, this would always be subject to consultation with you.
