Shelia Sutton has been using the IT & Skills for life Centre for 3 years. Sheila, who is 59 and works part time at a local primary school, found out about the centre while walking along Roman Road market one day.
“My IT Skills were non existent when I walked in that first day. Now I have qualifications in ECDL, New CLAIT 2006 and CLAIT Plus”.
For Shelia it’s not just about the qualifications she has gained. Coming to the IT centre has really improved her confidence.
“Coming here has also helped with my confidence. It keeps my mind active and gets me out of the house. Now I read the papers online, and email relatives who live abroad. I get pictures of my family emailed to me. It has opened up a whole new world”
One aspect of the centre that Sheila has found most positive has been the interaction between the IT tutors and students.
“The staff here are brilliant. They have so much patience, and Sheniz, my tutor, has given me a lot of confidence. Now I am also using my new skills to do my theory test on line so my next aim is to get my driving licence”
