Youth and Children's Services

Old Ford are contracted by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Youth & Connexions Service to run the local youth service in Bow (Lap 5 area). We provide our Youth and Children's services through Eastside Youth and Community Centre and through a Detached Service that provides information, support and activities to young people locally on the street. Old Ford are also the first Housing Association in the country to have developed an adventure playground.

Eastside Youth and Community Centre

Eastside Youth and Community Centre is a purpose built youth centre open six days a week hosting a range of activities targeted at young people from 13-19 years of age . We have on average 30-40 youths attending the centre every night and facilities include a dedicated music centre and a dance space.

Detatched Youth Service

Our Detached Team sign post young people to our services at Eastside and also to other local facilities in the area. We also target NEET young people – those who are Not in Education, Employment or Training.

Roman Road Adventure Playground

Old Ford's Roman Road Adventure Playground is the first adventure playground to be built by a housing association in England. Developed as a partnership project between Old Ford Housing Association and Tower Hamlets Local Authority in 2010, the site boasts both purpose built indoor and outdoor facilities. The playground is equipped with a double-width slide, bespoke swings, balancing equipment, hammocks and materials in which to create and adapt dens.

The venue also has a state of the art adjoining indoor building providing toilets, showers, a wet-room. There is also an expansive hall space which can be used for events and workshops.

Previous work:

Here is an example of some of the work that has been achieved when young people from Eastside Youth Centre worked with national media and arts charity Hi8us South to write and perform the music track "Age is Nuffin", a dance video and comedy sketches. Find out more about Hi8us:
