The Board
Old Ford Board is responsible for a number of key strategic management functions such as future strategy and planning, ensuring responsibilities are met and reviewing performance.
Their role includes:
- Determining and agreeing the business plan and budget
- Determining the future strategy and direction of the Association
- Ensuring Old Ford meets all statutory and other responsibilities for those it serves including residents and staff
- Reviewing performance
- Determining, in consultation with the Group Board a five year strategy for Old Ford
- Resident Board members must invite the Chair of the Residents *Federation to attend Old Ford Board Meetings as an observer as well as being involved in housing strategy via the Old Ford Board and Neighbourhood Boards
- Resident Board members will ensure that colleagues within the resident groups and Residents Federation are updated on Old Ford Board discussions
Membership
The Board currently comprises 14 members of which 5 are residents and 9 are independent. Parity between resident and independents will be achieved no more than two years after legal transfer of the housing choice estates.
Residents will be nominated for Board membership from the residents’ groups and not the Federation.
Following nomination, a panel of Independent Board Members will interview and appoint the Resident Board Members. Members serve in a personal capacity and must act in the best interests of the whole association.
The Old Ford Board has approved codes of conduct for Board members.
Support
- Board Members will receive regular training to ensure that they have the necessary knowledge and skills.
- Briefings before the meeting with the managing director to discuss Board papers and exchange information prior to Board meetings.
- Staff are to ensure that all papers for meetings are easily understood and free of jargon.
- Staff to be available when needed to answer queries and provide briefings.
- Resident Board members to have direct contact with the senior management team.
