The housing association’s staff collected the money as part of their commitment to enhance Life Chances and make a positive difference to the community. To raise the funds the team organised a Draw with over 30 prizes donated by staff and contractors and ran a dress down day.
Sally Taylor, Resident Involvement Officer for Roddons Housing Association, which is part of leading housing provider Circle Anglia, said: “The Macmillan & Hudson Palliative Care Centre is a much appreciated local centre and we always wanted to do something to support them. We are very happy with the amount we managed to raise in aid of people with life-threatening illnesses and their families”.
The Macmillan & Hudson Palliative Care Centre provides services to patients with life-threatening illness and their families and carers under one roof. The centre is open five days a week providing day care and treatments such as blood transfusions, venesection and pamidronate infusions. The aim of the centre is provide symptom management along with emotional, psychological, social and spiritual support. There are also other services including complimentary therapies and support and education for other professionals, plus a resource and information centre where people can call to access information regarding life-limiting illness.
Michelle Knight, sister from the Macmillan & Hudson Palliative Care Centre, added: “We are very grateful for the donation, which enables us to provide quality care for our many patients. Without the donations from the people in Wisbech we couldn’t support our patients and their families to the level we currently do”.
