This is the latest ‘work experience’ project organised by Roddons Housing Association in partnership with Apollo in a bid to give young people at local schools a chance to develop skills in the workplace. The boys are students from Neale-Wade Community College in March and have been working at the scheme every Thursday. St Mary’s House was chosen for the project since residents were unable to do the work themselves.
Roddons community & projects officer, Wendy Coles who co-ordinates the work experience, said: “I have been working with students from local schools for the past two years and I am always impressed by the commitment they put in.”
Later this month the Roddons staff will organise a coffee morning for the students and all residents, where the green-fingered boys will be presented with their certificate and shopping voucher.
