Choice Based Lettings
From 27 April 2009 the way we let our homes has changed. In partnership with other Kent local authorities and social landlords we have introduced a new system, known as choice based lettings.
Vacancies will be advertised through Kent Homechoice, an organisation which has been formed by a number of local authorities and social landlords within Kent. Under the Kent Homechoice scheme applicants will be able to bid for the home they want. When a property becomes available, it will be listed online at www.kenthomechoice.org.uk and in free fortnightly news sheets which will be made available in libraries and other public places across the Borough. Anyone on the appropriate Council's Housing Register will then be able to bid for the home of their choice.
You will need to be registered with the local authority for the area in which you want to live. This is most likely to be Tonbridge & Malling or Maidstone Borough Council, but other local authorities' contact details are available on the Kent Homechoice website.
