Financial Advice

Are you entitled to help with paying your rent? Many people are entitled to help with their rent (and/or Council Tax), but do not claim because they don't think it will be worth it or because they don't know how to claim.

Our Sustainable Communities Team now has two Welfare Benefit Officers. Their role is to offer money saving advice and make sure people get the full benefits they are entitled to, such as Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Council Tax Benefit.

We can also help with access to credit and finding employment. We offer financial health checks to each new tenant and have dedicated independent debt advisors employed by the Citizen Advice Bureau and the Tonbridge Debt Advice Centre.

If you feel you would benefit from a welfare benefit assessment or other money saving advice please contact:

Ashley Ross: ashley.ross@circleanglia.org 01732 780999 ext 4833
George Beresford: george.beresford@circleanglia.ore 01732 780999 ext 4834

You can also use our benefits calculator to find out what benefits you may be eligible for. We have also produced a factsheet (70 KB) that gives some pointers on claiming housing benefit together with contact details for Tonbridge & Malling and Maidstone Borough Councils.

The government has recently announced new rules around Housing and Council Tax Benefit, and these are explained in our new factsheet " More help with Housing Costs for Working Families". (489 KB)

You can get advice on debt or other financial problems from your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Tonbridge Debt Advice Centre. There is also some useful information available from the Department for Work and Pensions.
