South Anglia Scrutiny Panel

comments (0)

South Anglia residents have been selected to be part of the Scrutiny Panel. They will work independently to assess the services South Anglia provides to its residents. In order to have a better understanding of procedures and issues, Scrutineers will acquire information from staff and shadow teams at work.

May 2012

The Scrutiny Panel has presented the Communal Cleaning report to the Board and received very good feedback. The Panel has also worked together with the Head of Environment at South Anglia to prepare an action plan which follows the Report.

The group has started a new training session, which includes the Level 2 Certificate "Step into Housing", sponsored by Apollo.

In the next few weeks the Panel will put together an Action Plan to implement the recommendations and suggestions following the presentation of the report to the Board last week.

The next step will then be that of choosing the new Service Review.

February 2012

The Scrutiny Panel has been working hard during the past 8 months to undertake the first Service Review on Communal cleaning.
It's been a very exciting time that has included reading documents and discussing tender briefs, interviewing staff members, contractors and residents and inspecting block of flats and sheltered houses.

The report is now finished, with recommendations to be presented to the Board in March.

In Mike Bateman's words, "Since my involvement I have made friends with South Anglia staff and residents, and I am glad to have been given the opportunity to try and make a difference".

Four new members have just been recruited and will join the group in March, to choose the next Service Review and attend a Level 2 accredited training in Housing.

September 2011

South Anglia Resident Scrutiny Panel is now up and running. 7 South Anglia residents were recruited on to the panel in June 2011. The panel meet weekly and so far have had an opportunity to visit the South Anglia Offices, meet the staff and understand what we do and how we do it.

Along side this, the panel are carrying out their first service review. The subject of the review is Communal Cleaning. The panel will be looking at how our contractors are performing, how the contract is being monitored by South Anglia, and to see if residents are getting the service they deserve for the money that it is costing.

The next stage will be for the panel to put together a report of improvements they feel should be put in place to improve the level of service. These improvements will then need to be put in place by South Anglia following sign off from our Board.

We are still looking to recruit new members to our Scrutiny Panel.

Harvey Musto says ‘ Scrutiny is a great way to get involved and make a difference to the services South Anglia provides. It's a very rewarding experience where I'm gaining new skills and more confidence’

If you are interested in being part of the Panel and really make a difference, please get in contact with the Resident Involvement Team on 01376 559403 or communitiesandinvolvement@circle.org.uk
