From September Wherry will be granted limited enforcement powers including issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) for a range of environmental and disorder offenses such as the power to remove abandoned vehicles and the right to confiscate alcohol from children.
Wherever possible we will always use persuasion and prevention strategies rather than enforcement measures to deal with some of the problem behaviours such as dog fouling and graffiti that can have a negative effect on our neighbourhoods and communities.
We will work closely with other agencies such as Trading Standards to tackle shop keepers selling alcohol to children who through drunken behaviour cause a nuisance in our neighbourhoods.
