ZAP is a new service being provided by Victim Support on behalf of Broadland District Council.
ZAP will provide young people who are experiencing bullying with techniques and strategies to minimise and cope with the bullying. The 1 day workshops are available for any young person living or attending school in Broadland who are in schools years 5,6,7 and 8 (aged 10-14). The morning session will be solely with the young people and in the afternoon they will be accompanied by a parent/carer so the learning can be reinforced at home.
This workshop provides them with practical strategies to help them deal with the situation as well as activities to increase their self-esteem.
Staff from Victim Support have trained by and will be following the model tried and tested by Kidscape in London. Young people attending the course in London have experienced very positive outcomes including the reduction in frequency and severity of bullying as well as increased confidence. They also report successfully using the verbal assertiveness and body language techniques which they are equipped with on the day.
Courses will be delivered between Chalk Hill House, Rosary Road, NR1 1SZ and Youth Work Development Unit, School Lane, Sprowston, NR7 8TR.
The dates are as follows:
March 20th
April 24th
June 5th
July 10th
September 18th
October 16th
