Joining Norfolk Credit Union

Wherry Housing Association has entered into partnership with the Norfolk Credit Union. The Credit Union is a financial cooperative which is owned and controlled by its members.

The new partnership will be promoted to customers so that they have access to affordable financial services instead of turning to expensive loans for example from a doorstep lender.

A summary of the membership requirements and services offered is listed below:

Membership

Anyone over 16 (18 if applying for a loan) who lives in a Wherry property can apply, or anyone over 16 (18 if applying for a loan) who lives or works in Norfolk.

All members pay £1.00 to join

Insurance

Life savings
Loan Protection

Saving

Regular weekly or monthly payments by standing order or by cheque
Cash payments at the head office or community group offices
Savings may be withdrawn by giving due notice

Borrowing

Members can apply immediately for a loan. Borrowing from the Credit Union is less expensive than other lenders. For example:

Borrow £100 over 12 months, repay at £8.89 per month: total repaid = £106.57

Borrow £1000 over 24 months, repay at £47.07 per month: total repaid = £1118.45
