Rent arrears policy

The money we receive from rents is used to maintain your homes and provide a range of services. That's why it's so important that you pay your rent on time.

If you are having problems paying your rent please contact us as soon as possible, before the debt becomes too big to manage. We can agree a repayment schedule with you and put you in touch with specialist agencies who can help you sort out your money problems.

Please note that if you receive Housing Benefit you are responsible for claiming it and providing any information the Housing Benefit department asks for. It is very important that you tell them if your circumstances change to avoid under or overpayments.

If you do not pay your rent, we will take informal action to start with, such as sending reminder letters or calling you. If this is not successful we will start legal action to take you to court - this may result in a possession order and, if necessary, eviction. We do not like evicting residents, but sometimes people leave us with no other option.

Please contact us for more information.
